“Why have you been letting our son cheat?”
The teacher understood why the parents asked it. Their son, Samson, had been ranked 49th out of 50. Now, he was 2nd! Such things are not easily explained.
But Samson Kalitera had not cheated. Rather, God transformed the lackluster 7th grade student, and did it through a sermon. At a church service, the preacher had inisted to the crowd:
God has made you in his image.
Samson’s thought process was simple:
- God is intelligent;
- God made me in his image, so…
- I, too, must be intelligent.
With that revolutionary conclusion, Samson started to study and the rest – as they say – is history. Samson received a “distinction” on his Master’s thesis at ANU and now is in the Doctor of Ministry program.
For the past 1 1/2 years, Samson has served capably as the chaplain at our ANU Town campus. He’s now returning to Malawi, where he will be reunited with his family. Say a prayer for Samson as God opens new doors of ministry in his home country.
